Earth Tapestry

ongoing project

The aim is to tell the history of how the earth we live in was created over millions of years. It is in support and inspired by the proposed idea to create a 360 Climate Change Centre on the old Cockenzie Powerstation site in East Lothian Scotland .

The initial idea was based on seeing The BBC documentary Earth. I was watching it and thought the content, patterns, shapes would be ideal for a tapestry.

The aim is to produce an education tool, which would be housed in The 360 Centre, but could also tour.

we Invite people to add a stitch. To show how beautiful our natural world is. To show we all care and wish to protect this beautiful earth.

The elements of Volcanoes (fire), Ice (Water), Green (Nature), Atmosphere (weather) and Humans (Living animals). Are the starting point of this tapestry.

After the launch of the first panel in 2024. A group has emerged who meet every week to stitch the first 11 panels. Who meet every week in Port Seton Community Centre.

We are looking to expand the project and involve others.
