Who Are We?

The Scottish Tapestry Trail is a Scottish registered charity (SC053806)  dedicated to celebrating Scotland’s rich heritage, culture and communities through the art of stitching. Bringing together stitchers, storytellers, historians and local groups, we aim to create a vibrant network that preserves and shares Scotland’s stories through textile art. “Telling our story one stitch at a time” reflects our belief that every stitch contributes to Scotland’s shared story, and our ambition is to become a membership organisation that welcomes and supports stitchers from across Scotland and beyond.

Launch Event – Inverness Town Hall, 12 September

Join us for the official launch of The Scottish Tapestry Trail at Inverness Town Hall on 12 September.

This free ticketed event will be formally launched by the Provost of Inverness and will feature an inspiring programme of speakers, including Dr Andrew Crummy MBE, Dr Rodney Mountain, and Dr Ioanna Nixon, Director of the Beatson Institute. Following a catered lunch, Bryan Beattie, Creative Consultant for the Inverness Castle Project, will introduce a screening of River, a musical work inspired by the Spirit of the Highlands & Islands Tapestry. The afternoon will be dedicated to a relaxed Stitch and Share session, and we warmly encourage stitchers to bring along tapestry panels and other textile projects they are currently working on. Whether you are an experienced needleworker, a heritage enthusiast or simply curious to learn more, we invite you to join us in celebrating Scotland's stories, creativity and communities through stitch.
