The Jacobite Solder is the second in a series of downloadable designs that are exclusive to this website. This design reflects the history and colour of Scotland.

The Jacobite Soldier is a recurring image I have drawn through many tapestries.

My first  encounter with this iconic  image was in The Battle of Prestonpans Tapestry in 2010.  The drawings are based on the Penicuik Drawings of 1745. I always try to get as near as possible to being authentic in my visual research.  As with all historical clothing there many variations and interpretations.

I have designed over 600 designs for many tapestries since 2010. Building up experience on how create design for stitch.

If you wish to stitch this drawing, trace the line drawing onto a piece of linen, then stitch. Simple!

The download includes full size A5 image to trace, colour illustration and a secret message!
